dar instead of tar

Asked by martin

How about using dar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DAR_%28Disk_Archiver%29) instead of tar?
- It is far superior and much better suited for backups.
- It would also bring functionality of the blueprints for backup-encryption and can do disk-spanning (splitting the archives to smaller files).
- It also has integrated support for incremental backups and is much faster when restoring files.

Cheers,
Martin

This is a good Idea. In fact, it would be better to implement an interface for NSsbackup to be able to use plugins as backends.

Sadly, I don't have time nor motivation to work heavily on NSsbackup anymore. You should add this as a blueprint in NSsbackup and I could be taken care of . https://blueprints.edge.launchpad.net/nssbackup
