Are the optimizations for Atom processors in Karmic UNR?

Asked by Leandro

Well, that is the question. Most of the time I prefer the standard desktop interface in my eeePC.
So, if not for the interface, is there any other optimization that will make the my netbook
work better with its Atom processor relative to to the standard desktop edition?

If I have understood your question correctly, you would like the standard desktop interface rather than the one implemented by netbook-launcher? If this is what you want it does seem to be achievable with a few tweaks. If that is what you want to do, let me know and I'll document what I did to achieve this.

Well, I like the standard desktop interface, and with a few tweeks I optimize a little
the workspace to my wishes.

Therefore, for me it would make sense the instalation of the UNR if there are advantages
besides the interface in that version. With advantanges I mean a optimized kernel
for atom processor, better power management for netbooks, that kind of stuff. I just
want to know if the UNR edition contains that kind of tweak, so to know if it is worthwhile
for me installing it instead of the standard desktop edition.

I'm particularly curious about that now that there is a Moblin remix in preparation, and
apperently the moblin kernel does have many tweaks for Atom processors. If this is
the case, will the UNR edition incorporate those tweaks?

I don't know the answer to that for sure, but there is a discussion of exactly this issue at:

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Leandro for more information if necessary.
