Go Home applet stuck on right side

Asked by Alan Pater

For some strange reason, the Go Home applet is stuck on the right hand side of the panel and the options to move it are greyed out. I found it's settings in gconf-editor, it gives the position as "0" and the Locked key is checked and "unwritable".

I am using Lucid (10.4) and installed the Ubuntu-netbook on top of a regular install.

I found the key to fix this.

In gconf-editor > apps > panel > applets > applet_0
panel_right_stick key was checked. I unchecked that, closed gconf-editor
and ran "gnome-panel --replace &" from a terminal.

The panel disappeared, then reappeared with the go_home applet on the left side.

What I don't know that key got checked in the first place.
