DualTuner Mode

Asked by Marktrix

Hello,

i have a http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV-NOVA-TD Stick and i wanna use
it in DualTuner Mode to get more Programs. By starting Me TV i have the choice for one of the two adapters.

So i ask Michael Lamothe about my problem. His Answer was "You need to run two instances of Me TV to use 2 tuner devices." What does exactly means? Did this mean i have to start Me TV twice?

Thanks for Answer!

Greetings Marktrix

Yes, start it twice. Sorry for the jargon.

Okay, so i can watch the TV Programms separately. Wich is for me the "diversity feature", where i think it is not supported by the driver...?

But thats not the solution, now i can search for the Programms by each Adapter. I want them put together
for a better reception. Wich is possible with the Windows driver, the payoff is 10 more Programms.

Sorry, i mixed something up. I thought the "DualTuner Mode" put the signal together, sorry!

I think the "diversity" mode in Windows with that DVB-device will use two tuners by switching back and forth between them depending on which has better reception in that exact moment (or buffer secs ago). Also then the device should have two aerials connected and as the manual says, ~60cm apart.
This actually works, for example in a moving car (or boat) sometimes, when w/o "diversity" the reception is unusable.
I don't think Me-TV supports this.

Also I noticed, if only one Me-TV (v1.1.5) is running, and in View/Devices something else than the first available device is chosen, Me-TV cannot get signal lock for some reason. Says: "Failed to lock to channel"
Is this a bug?
Trying with two instances of Me-TV, two devices can be used.
Also if Me-TV is started with --device option in CLI, then the 2nd available device works though and the first one is left available.

Sounds like a bug but I have no way of testing this.
