Adding an nzb that contains an nzb

Asked by front243

Hi, I am following a specific newsgroup via binsearch.info.

This newsgroup is about a specific topic and occasionally somebody posts a relevant nzb in the group. The problem is that if I download this nzb (which contains yet another nzb), the nzb downloaded is deleted. I have looked at the options in lottanzb and can't seem to turn this off.

LottaNZB v0.5.4 installed via the debian repositories (using Linux Mint Debian edition).

Hope somebody can help with this problem.

If an NZB contains another NZB file with the same name, it is deleted by LottaNZB in order to work around a bug in HellaNZB. The development of HellaNZB has stopped years ago, which is why we're in the process of moving to SABnzbd. The bug should not be present anymore in LottaNZB 0.6.

The new version is already fairly stable and daily builds are available for Ubuntu. However, it might also be possible for you to install the package following package:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/232786/lottanzb_0.6%7Ebzr1515%7E1237%7E201010022342%7Elucid1_all.deb

It would be interesting for me to know whether the package works on your machine and whether it fixes the problem you've been encountering.

I tested it and it ran fine. When I started it, it correctly detected that Sabnzbd needed to be installed and proceeded to install it.

There is one problem however.

If I click on an nzb in a browser it seems as if several downloads are being started as can be seen in this screenshot:

The download "50371087" is the actual nzb file i clicked, and the three downloads are when is inside the downloaded nzb. I double checked this and its not because I accidentally double-clicked the link.

It's good to hear that installing and running the LottaNZB 0.6 daily build worked fine.

I just downloaded an NZB file from your Usenet search engine that refers to another NZB file (with the actual content). When opening it using LottaNZB, the former only appeared once and was soon joined by the (single) actual download. To be honest, I didn't even know that SABnzbd was capable of automatically adding an NZB file contained within an NZB file to the download list. Why don't you just let the search engine generate the NZB file that directly points to the actual content, i.e. a whole collection? This would be a way to work around the problem.

In other words, I could not reproduce your problem, but this doesn't mean that there is no bug. I'm not sure whether the problem is located in SAbnzbd, LottaNZB or something else. Can you tell me what browser you use? Also, did you choose to open the file using LottaNZB in your browser or was it added automatically after it was downloaded to the directory you might have selected as the one to be observed (Preferences -> General -> Automatically add downloads from)?

What might be useful are the log messages of SABnzbd. Would you mind running

tail -n150 ~/.sabnzbd/logs/sabnzbd.log

just after having downloaded the NZB file, seen the three downloads appear in LottaNZB and paused the downloads? If you want to, you can send me the output by e-mail (click on my name).

Can you help with this problem?
