Can I block websites from reaching my email address?

Asked by george ewing

I have changed my email address to eliminate most of the spam coming to me through my old address... . I am still getting a few directly through GMAIL however. I don't know how this comes about as we never use GMAIL to send mail. It would be very nice to block these few spam websites if possible.

As far as I know, one has to be logged into Launchpad to see the email addresses of others which prevents spam bots from harvesting email addresses.

I am afraid we cannot do more in terms of spam prevention.

Can't you add anti-spam measures on your end? I heard that Gmail has pretty effective spam filters. Do these not work for you?

Hi Muharem; I think the answer to my question is simply No. It would be
nice to be able to block sites but I guess it can't be done.

Hello George,

I am afraid that's right. We can only prevent spammers from harvesting your email address from Launchpad (or make it so hard that it becomes uneconomical) but once they get your address we cannot stop them spamming you.

You can use spam filters like Spam assassin that can prevent Spam on your side.
