Delete project self

Asked by Gregory Burd

Please delete Launchpad project "self".

The reason to delete this project is straight forward. I set up the project on Launchpad to host the alternate branches of Self language development as well as blueprints for work on a new redesigned version of the language. Due to a of lack of time I have not started any work related to this project. In fact, I will not be able to work on this for the foreseeable future, if at all. Leaving it here on Launchpad will only confuse users/developers interested in the Self programming language (http://selflanguage.org/). For these reasons I ask you to please delete the "self" project and the single related Blueprint (https://blueprints.launchpad.net/self/+spec/compiler-llvm-ir).

Thanks.

We do not normally delete projects that have assets or mirror other projects because they are valuable to the launchpad community. For example, The Ubuntu project wants to register every project and import the code for every package in Ubuntu. This allows them to track bugs upstream and verify if a bug is fixed in the latest version.

I think you should
1) Update the project to state it does not officially use Launchpad, and set the homepage links from the Change details page.

2) Give maintainership to the registry administrators so that they can then give the project to anyone who wants to ensure the project information is current.

Curtis,

This project has no "valuable assets". There is no source, no docs, and only one empty blueprint. This "project" is an empty shell.

But, I'll do as you suggest with the project page.

Can remove the blueprint I referenced? It has *nothing* to do with the current incarnation of Self. It was just a thought I had for the next version of the language.

regards,

-greg

It is not possible to delete a blueprint (or a bug or a question for that matter). Since the project is empty, as you say, I will deactivate it. If someone tries to register it, we will give the project to them.
