Asked by Felipe Lerena

My username is felipelerena and I would like it to be lipe, the user lipe is already registered for somebody else but I think is a dead account. Is there a posibility that I can take that username?

Hello Felipe,

have you tried to contact the owner of the 'lipe' account requesting that? I'd try to first email him asking about it (CC me: <email address hidden>), and if the account is really unused, I will request the renaming to a LP admin.

Cheers.

I've got the same issue, but I don't even know where to find the email address of that user?

My current username is 'bjorn-stabell' but I'd like to get 'beorn' which seems to be very unused/idle.

I think that you can claim that account as yours since it looks like is from someone that translated something or worked with a package somewhere. is not an active account yet

Hi Daniel,

My name is Bjørn Stabell and I frequently use the username 'beorn'.
On Launchpad I see that you have that username, but it doesn't seem
like you're using it. Would you consider relinquishing it for me?

Rgds,
Bjorn

I've never used Launchpad and I have no idea why my email is registered there
(or maybe I needed it once but forgot about it). I'm using only PLD Linux
distribution. I see you've made a merge request. I agreed and I hope this
will make the account name transfer possible. But there's a one condition:
you'll remove my email address and all of my personal information from that
account so your actions will not be done under my name etc. etc. etc.

Regards
Beorn (the other one)

Bjorn, place a new question at https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+addquestion and I'll see what I can do. (Don't hijack open questions :-)

I think it was registered automatically by some PO import scripts or
something.

I was looking around, and I don't think there's any details left on
your account. I removed the email address already.

Thanks a bunch, Daniel :)

Bjorn

What the hell is going on here? Daniel, did you accept Bjorn's merge request?!

Just for the record, that's not the right thing to do. It miscredits
Daniel's contributions.

The appropriate thing to do would have been a simple account rename,
something that any Launchpad admin can do.

Oops. How would we do that? I should only have the latest Storm
changeset/bug credited to me, nothing else.

Heh, we're close to a track record on wrongs here:

    a) You hijacked this question to talk about your own problem

    b) You merged somebody else's account into yours

    c) You have no karma!

        https://launchpad.net/~beorn/+karma

Anyway, this is just my good-humored way of saying "next time do
better". For the future: in this sort of situation, renaming accounts
would have been much easier. Daniel could have renamed his (by visiting
his +edit page) and then you could have renamed yours -- you even
contacted him via email, which was the right thing to do, so it'd have
been easy. And a Launchpad admin can do it for you if the person is
unresponsive.

Anyway, enough ranting, case closed.

I also have the same issue. My current name is set to the3dman13 and I would like to change it to the3dman. The user that has this name does not appear active, and I do not see an email for him.
