Receiving two bug notifications (direct subscriber & team member)

Asked by Václav Šmilauer

Hi there,

when I report/work on bug within the yade project, I receive bug notifications twice: first because the whole dev team is subscribed to project's bugs, second because I am direct subscribed by virtue of having reported the bug or being assigned to it:

mail #1: You received this bug notification because you are a member of Yade developers, which is subscribed to Yade.

mail #2: You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug.

I didn't find how to stop this duplicate delivery; can it be considered bug in launchpad or it is intentional and has some rationale behind?

Thanks!

Hi,

You're getting two emails because the yade-dev team has a mailing list. When the Bugs application compiles a list of people to send email to, it does not consider your membership of a mailing list; the mailing list appears as only one recipient. This is expected behaviour, as many people like to filter their mailing list traffic into a separate folder and prefer it to contain a full record of list traffic.

In addition to the standard mailing list headers, described in RFC 2369 <http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc2369.html>, Launchpad adds other headers to help with automated filtering. These are documented at <https://help.launchpad.net/Bugs/Subscriptions#Bug%20mail%20headers>.

Gavin.

Can you help with this problem?
