GNUstep repositories

Asked by Johannes Brakensiek

Hello,

I'd like to update the repositories and try to build new packages of the GNUstep distribution using clang and the new GNUstep runtime (which is ~registry/gnustep/*). If you'd add me as maintainer I'd give it a try.

Thank you
Johannes

I guess this is https://launchpad.net/gnustep? The maintainer of that project is https://launchpad.net/~thopiekar, who has been active recently, so we'd much prefer you to go through them rather than us taking administrative action over their head. Perhaps you could suggest that the project could be transferred to team ownership or something?

Regarding the various ~registry-owned branches on https://code.launchpad.net/gnustep, those mostly seem to be import branches. We could transfer them to some other team, but that wouldn't particularly achieve anything, as editing the source of import branches still requires our help. Perhaps you could instead tell us what changes need to be made to those imports to get them working again, and we can apply those changes?

Thank you for your answer. I contacted thopiekar and see if/what he replies.

It be great if you'd try to fix the imports as a first step. These are the correct new origins of the repos:

- lp:~registry/gnustep/gnustep-base: https://github.com/gnustep/libs-base.git
- lp:~registry/gnustep/gnustep-corebase: https://github.com/gnustep/libs-corebase.git
- lp:~registry/gnustep/gnustep-gui: https://github.com/gnustep/libs-gui.git
- lp:~thopiekar/gnustep/gnustep-back: https://github.com/gnustep/libs-back.git
- lp:~registry/gnustep/renaissance: https://github.com/gnustep/libs-renaissance.git
- lp:~registry/gnustep/gnustep-make: https://github.com/gnustep/tools-make.git
- lp:~registry/gnustep/gnustep-libobjc2: https://github.com/gnustep/libobjc2.git
- lp:~registry/gnustep/gnustep-opal-github: https://github.com/gnustep/libs-opal.git

All repos now are based on GitHub, so the *github repos are duplicate and not needed anymore.

I doubt packages are going to build if the imports are fixed, but it's a first step and worth a try.
