Can I use Indicator Applet with Thunderbird?

Talking about e-mail, I prefer Mozilla Thunderbird to Evolution. Can use the Indicator Applet with Thunderbird?

To launch Thunderbird from the Indicator Applet:
Create a file named ‘thunderbird’ in:
 /usr/share/indicators/messages/applications/ folder with the following contents:
 ‘/usr/share/applications/thunderbird.desktop’.

Doesn't work at 100%, I think because Thunderbird doesn't support anymore messagging menu

Little question: the direktory is owned by root at my pc so i can't create a new file in it

Jens: try to create the file as root. For example use "gksudo gedit /usr/share/indicators/messages/applications/" to create it.

'gksudo' means you want to act like root, 'gedit' is the text editor in GNOME.

Could such process but for claws-mail be guessed from this one or is there a catch ?
