Grub-customizer and Kubuntu 22.04

Asked by mpetit987

Kubuntu 20.04:

Grub-customizer is installed without ppa with sudo apt install grub-customizer

Kubuntu 22.04 and Ubuntu 22.04:

Grub-customizer does not install with sudo apt, does not work either from Discover

Is Grub-customizer compatible with 22.04?

If not what other tool can accomplish the same process

Please see the discussions in Bug #1969353 and Bug #1969793 about the fact that grub-customizer is broken in Ubuntu 22.04.
It ignores the upgrade from libssl1.1 to libssl3 and uninstalling the package does not remove the changes done when installing.

That's bad. I didn't know about the problem and about the removal of grub customizer from repository.

Generally, the old version was also good for ubuntu 22.04. It's just a problem when upgrading from an older system with modified boot list.

I created a new release that doesn't put the executable to /etc/grub.d/bin/grubcfg_proxy but instead putting a shell script there which forwards to the original binary as installed with grub customizer package. This way an update of grub customizer isn't leaving the old binary anywhere.

I released a new version and published to the ppa (currently waiting for build) as well. So you can install grub customizer from there once the build is finished.

Thank you guys.

From Kubuntu 22.04, it is working.

Funny thing from Discover, trying to install grub-customizer was crashing Discover!
