Grub Customizer ppa seems to be missing it's authorization Release file

Asked by C. Jeffery Small

Since upgrading to Xubuntu 19.10 I have not been able to download the package information for the grub customizer.

Every attempt to perform an apt-get update results in the following error:

E: The repository 'http://ppa.launchpad.net/danielrichter2007/grub-customizer eoan Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

I have tried to add options such as allow-insecure= yes and trusted=yes to the /etc/apt/sources.list.d/danielrichter2007-ubuntu-grub-customizer-eoan.list file to override the problem, but nothing is working.

The entry in that file is:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/danielrichter2007/grub-customizer eoan main #Grub Customizer

Are others reporting this problem? Can a signed Release file be provided or can you suggest what change I need to make to overcome this problem?

Thanks.

If you look at https://launchpad.net/~danielrichter2007/+archive/ubuntu/grub-customizer you will see that there is no version of grub-customizer available for Ubuntu eoan (and neither for Ubuntu 20.04 focal) in Daniel Richter's PPA. This leads to that (rather strange) error message.

grub-customizer is now available in the standard Ubuntu repositories, so you do not need adding this PPA any more.

Just delete your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/danielrichter2007-ubuntu-grub-customizer-eoan.list configuration file, and install grub-customizer with the command "sudo apt install grub-customizer" (or any other suitable package management command or program).

Thanks for the information. I did not realize that this had been migrated to the standard repository. This solves the problem! Regards.
