Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs

This is a recurrent problem. The same was fixed for Jaunty one year ago (see bug #348855). Now on Lucid the problem reappears:

According to

  https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/lucid/+source/ubuntu-docs/+pots/ubuntu-docs-about-ubuntu

there're templates created for Spanish (Spain) and Spanish (Puerto Rico), in addition to the generic Spanish.

Please, anyone should remove these "es_ES" and "es_PR" locales from the ubuntu-docs-about-ubuntu template. They are buggy and unnecessary, since the only locale for Spanish language must be "es" (without the country part).

The existence of the es_ES and es_PR locales is only a source for troubles.

Thanks in advance,

Ricardo Perez

We've recently moved our translations to https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu-docs and I'm not seeing the extra language templates either at the original source or in the new location. The Answers post linked in comment #1 indicates that these have been removed - can you please confirm that this is now fixed? Thanks in advance.

Sure, you can go to a country-specific template by changing the URL, like this:

https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu-docs/natty/+lang/es_ES
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu-docs/natty/+lang/es_PR
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu-docs/natty/+lang/es_MX
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu-docs/natty/+lang/es_AR

and so on. Therefore, the answer is no: it's not fixed yet.

There must be no valid URL other than https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu-docs/natty/+lang/es, without the country code at the very end of the URL.

Thanks to you ;).

Ricardo - but that is a bug in Launchpad, isn't it? The po files are not present in ubuntu-docs as far as I can see.

Matthew, you're right. I'm unable to translate anything in any of the "es_*" URLs.

It seems to be fixed, then. Sorry for my misunderstanding, and thank you very much!
