Bug Description
As per the subject, I'm not able to assign a bug to myself. This means that I'm not able to use the bts to communicate to the other team members which bugs I've taken responsibility for (an important factor in avoiding duplication of effort)
Would it be possible to change malone so that I can assign bugs to myself?

You can, but you need to be a maintainer of whatever you're assigning the bug to. How does that sound?
