restart and update sequence

Asked by Peter Knapen

When there is an update I get the following message: restart and update (the MS Windows sequence). I prefer the old sequence: update and when necessary restart the system at a time convenient for me. As the packages are downloaded and updated automaticcaly, I do'nt have that choice anymore. Is there a way to gor to the old settings?

Open Terminal [ctl+alt+t]:
lsb_release -a; uname -a; firefox --version
Paste output here for diagnostic purposes.

It could be that i have posted the question in the wrong package. It could well be that it is a Ubunu change in policy for updating packages.
